Unlocking Youth and Vitality: My 20-Year Journey in Healing
I’ve had neck problems for as long as I can remember.
I think in this photo of me, my neck looks like it’s hurting and it jogged my memory. Many of you might not know my personal health history, so allow me to share this story with you.
When I was just ten years old, I woke up one morning and couldn’t turn my head to the left or right sides. It was awful and scary. The next 6-7 months was my first experience with my body not working the way it “should” and my first real experience in feeling tremendous amounts of pain and healing in my life.
My sweet Mother tried everything she could, from taking me to specialist after specialist to obtain scans, tests, and hopefully get answers to no avail. Many Doctors addressed my parents instead of me which made me feel like a third person in the room. It wasn't until I was spoken to as a person directly, that my neck pain changed.
A dear friend of my family is a chiropractor, and in his gracious generosity donated his time during his lunch breaks daily to come to our house and to work with me on my neck. My inflammation was so severe, I don't recall him manually adjusting me during this time. In fact, we mostly talked and he would ask me questions and gently turn my neck. That's it. The attention he gave to me was exactly what I needed. His kindness and attentive care, along with his teachings about how my body functions, created the perfect environment for my neck to heal completely.
The miracle that occurred was so fast and wonderful, I was actually able to get back into my vigorous dance classes that were at a competition level, learn all the dance routines I missed over those 7 months, and perform at our annual recital. I was given an award for this remarkable achievement - Student of the Year! I was so proud of what I have learned and accomplished that the following school year, I volunteered to work for the kind chiropractor every Saturday at his office. This is when and where I first learned the names of muscles and bones, at just 11 yrs old! From then on, I became fascinated with how the body heals. I dedicated my life to studying this phenomenon and never looked back.
My academic journey led me to become a Licensed Massage Therapist, and later I earned a B.S. in Biology. I further expanded my expertise by becoming a Pilates Instructor, a Gyrotonic Instructor, and an Active Isolated Stretching Therapist, while also studying Feldenkrais. Along the way, I obtained several other teaching certifications, all in pursuit of answering this burning question:
Can our bodies permanently heal from Trauma and Disease?
The answer I have witnessed time and time again is:
Yes, they indeed can.
We all know how challenging it is to learn how to do something differently. Whether that be a new exercise or a new change in your life, it’s very challenging to change.
I know you’re strong and resilient, sure, but we all have moments of thinking, “Am I missing something? Isn’t there a better, smarter way to do this!?”
🤷🤷🏻♀️
I want to share with you the fruits of my two decades of work in helping clients heal their body pain.
Yes, you read that right, I've been teaching and guiding others for over twenty years.
It's hard to believe how time flies, didn't think I was that old. I hear ya, it's hard for me to believe too!
